Phase 1 of the LACMA Transformation Project includes the new Broad Contemporary Art Museum addition to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, a new entrance pavilion, connecting structures linking new and existing buildings, a 2-level below-grade parking structure, major upgrades to the existing museum central plant, demolition of existing structures, site improvements (including dewatering, mitigation of subsurface tar, paleontological remains and city utility relocations), landscaping and off-site traffic improvements. The project is designed by Pritzker Prize winning architect Renzo Piano.
Aurora provided Project and Construction Management services including assistance with the management of entitlements (compliance with a pre-existing development agreement and vacation of existing public street), contract negotiations, budgeting, scheduling, direction of the architect and consultants, value engineering, city approvals, management of the general contractor, oversight of quality control programs and coordination with operations.
